Apple is now officially bigger than Microsoft in terms of market cap (thanks to iPhone & iPad sales). Wow, ain’t that something!? I think that is wonderful, especially since I have prophesied this years ago to my friends. Of course, Microsoft still has Windows installed on 87% of computers around the world but that’s obviously not because it is better than Mac OS X; it’s because of all those corporate licenses…but, I am not going to start dissing Microsoft today. No, I think enough blood has been spilled in the war of “Mac vs. Windows”, don’t you think?
Lately I have realized something. My friends think I’m an Apple fanboy, and they may be right. Here’s why.
I love Apple’s products, that is for sure. I have owned pretty much every thing they have released over the past 10 years. Today I own an iPhone and a MacBook but I have had other Apple gear too like a Mac Pro, iPad, iPod, iMac and even the iBook back in 2001. I think it’s obvious – I love technology and Apple just happened to be my favorite tech company. But why? Why their stuff more than any others, like from Sony, HP or Dell? I think I finally know the reason why and the reason is, like any other Apple fanboy: Steve Jobs.
Let’s face it, Steve Jobs is Apple and Apple is Steve Jobs! It is one and the same. I love the guy and why? Because I think, like many Apple fanboys, he’s the best CEO of tech and he’s different from all the other, more corporate dicks out there, like Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer. Apple is the non-corporate corporation of tech. No other CEO’s is as bold and charismatic as Steve Jobs. The guy is also very passionate and innovative which is imprinted all across Apple’s products – Superior design, simple to use, no frills.
So why don’t everyone love their products? Simple answer: Because they don’t love Steve Jobs. A lot of folks find him arrogant, pretentious and just too eccentric! I think it’s that simple. And if you don’t like the way he is then chances are you don’t like Apple. And, of course, most Apple fanboys are very loyal to Steve which, in turn, is not helping the case for liking Apple at all, in case you were thinking of getting onboard the Apple train.
I think those who likes Apple are a bit like Steve: Eccentric, arrogant and perhaps slightly crazy! Join us or suffer the faith of a dying dinosaur, Microsoft. Haha! Peace ;)
